Kodansha VR Lab is a studio that plans and produces VR content for the world. We produce a variety of contents from short stories to idol music videos and live streaming, and promote them to the world. We are looking for an engineer to join our team to create content using Unity, a new genre of VR storytelling. We welcome engineer who is interested in creating new entertainment together.

Responsibilities:

• Define the technology strategy with art and engineering teams for various projects
• In charge of lighting and FX direction of small to mid scale projects
• Manage and distribute tasks along the art and engineering teams
• Oversee the healthy progression for a project (identify and plan accordingly to possible production bottlenecks)
• Prototype art tasks to explain concepts to other team members or outsource studios
• Establish guidelines for outsource work (manuals for modelling specifications, texture creation, etc)

What we are looking for:

• 5 or more years of Unity/Unreal experience (Unity preferred)
• Strong lighting and FX skills. 
• Knowledge of current game engine technologies and real time graphics techniques
• Maya technical experience (PyMel, tools, vertex color baking, etc)
• Highly optimized game engine content creation experience
• Strong passion for VR technologies and new ways of storytelling
• Node based shader creation

Good to have:

• Rigging experience
• Shader programming skills (HLSL/Cg)
• Advanced Houdini experience
• Procedural approach to problem solving
• Git experience
• English speaking staff

Location:
Tokyo, Tsukiji (remote working possible)

Requirements:

・If you have non-Japanese nationality, we may consider taking VISA to work in Japan.
・Contract type: outsourcing agreement
・Service fee: Depend on qualifications and experience
・When to start working : Negotiable
・Contract term: review the contract every three months
